Magnetism and Nutrition
- The magnetism journey
How many magnets did you eat today?
- One of the most important minerals, iron, is extremely essential for the proper functioning of our organism, since it carries oxygen to all parts of the body.
- A small lack of it can cause anemia (and consequently fatigue and weakness), while its chronic lack can lead to organ failure.
What do cereals have in common with the Earth's core? Iron! - Some cereals are a source of iron. So, if we use a powerful magnet, we can attract them!
Why is this happening? - Iron is the most characteristic magnetic material. So, coming into contact with a magnet, he is attracted by him. That is why iron-rich cereals have this property.
- The grape consists mainly of water. Water is a diamond molecule, which means that it is repelled by the magnet.
All materials depending on the relationship they show with an external magnetic field are characterized:
Diamagnetic
when they repel the magnetic field
Paramagnetic
when they partially gather the magnetic field
Ferromagnetic
when they significantly concentrate the magnetic field
